Rockpooling at the Junior Rangers Club

This week’s Junior Rangers Club, the LBCP Rangers took over 50 children and adults to do some rock-pooling. The North end of Lunan bay is home to some surprisingly biodiverse and large rock pools.

Carefully using our nets or by hand, we lifted crabs, shrimp, fish, anemone, periwinkles, dog whelk, mussels and limpets. Once we had a closer look at the marine life in the sampling tray, we released them back to the rock pools.
It was amazing to see the variety of life and how they’ve adapted to live in these intertidal habitats!

Why your donation counts

In response, The LBCP came up with the idea to offer a community-led Ranger Service at Lunan Bay to educate visitors on SOAC and the benefits of the outdoors, while reducing stress and anxieties for the residents.

Proposals to mitigate this include: natural regeneration of woodland on established dunes, ongoing monitoring the effects of climate change and maintaining relatively low key development and recreational provision.

A sustainable future for Lunan Bay & Community
Our current funded projects have been met with great success, improving and preserving the local environment and infrastructure.
Donating to the LBCP ensures Lunan Bay and it's surrounding communities has a future that is sustainable, environmentally focused and a brighter future all together were it not for the significant progress we have already made.
